Bitcoin rate approached $ 17,000 for the first time in the new year
Bitcoin continues to recover after the New Year’s correction, and today is characterized by a steady rise.
At the time of publication, the largest cryptocurrency is trading near the $ 16,500 level, reaching this mark for the first time since the beginning of the year. After updating its all-time high in mid-December above the $ 20,000 level, the bitcoin rate dropped by almost $ 4,000 or 20% in one day, later finding a local low just above the $ 11,000 support.
The current rally started around $ 13,000 and was accelerated in the middle of the week by the announcement that Peter Thiel’s fund holds hundreds of millions of dollars in cryptocurrency, after which the rate surpassed the $ 15,000 level.
After a short stagnation, bitcoin returned to growth, and at its peak its price reached $ 16,920, thus updating the maximum of the current year, after which it fell by $ 900.
