Coinbase Launches Crypto Visa Debit Card For UK Residents
American exchange Coinbase this Thursday unveiled its own debit card, issued in the Visa system through the PaySafe payment service, thanks to which UK customers “will be able to pay with cryptocurrency as easily as with money in a bank account.”.
Coinbase Card is linked to user accounts on the exchange, which allows you to use Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and other supported cryptocurrencies for calculations. The card is suitable both for paying for purchases in stores and for withdrawing cash from ATMs. Coinbase will instantly convert cryptocurrency to fiat when a user makes transactions with a card.
The card is ordered through a special application for Android and iOS, with which customers can also choose which of the wallets they want to use for debiting funds and receive detailed information about their expenses.
The cost of issuing the card for the first thousand users will be £ 4.95. The limit for spending funds per day will be £ 10,000, and £ 500 will be available for withdrawal in cash. Transactions will be subject to a 2.49% commission (1.49% for cryptocurrency conversion + 1% for transaction processing). Cash withdrawals over £ 200 per month will also incur a 1% commission.
The service is currently only available to UK residents, but the company intends to expand it to other European countries in the coming months..
