Bill Clinton to speak at Ripple conference
American cryptocurrency startup Ripple announced that 42nd President of the United States Bill Clinton will deliver a keynote speech at the Swell conference it is organizing.
“At a time when disruptive technology and regulation often clashed with each other, President Clinton helped us enter a period of explosive growth and expansion of the Internet, making the network as we know it today,” writes Ripple. “He also helped design programs that bridged the digital divide and brought new technology to underserved communities around the world.”.
The company notes that the lesson of those days takes on special relevance today. “Like the internet in the 90s, we are in a quandary. Digital assets and blockchain provide a way to exchange value at the speed of information, which creates additional economic opportunities and increases the penetration of financial services, ”the company adds. “However, there are certain concerns about this new technology that require sound policies to protect consumers while not harming innovation.”.
What exactly Clinton will talk about during his speech, the company does not specify. The Swell Conference will be held October 1-2 in San Francisco. It is expected to discuss blockchain issues in the context of financial companies, new market opportunities and regulatory issues outside the United States..
