AMD released a package of drivers for mining cryptocurrency

Graphics processing unit (GPU) manufacturer AMD releases driver package designed specifically for cryptocurrency mining.

According to the information on the company’s website, it is called Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute and is a beta version of software designed to improve the performance of GPUs used for mining..

Mining is an energy-intensive process during which new transactions are added to the blockchain, for which miners receive rewards in the form of newly released tokens. The release of AMD drivers is associated with an increase in demand for video processors for mining, which in turn arose in connection with the rise in the rate of cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum.

The two largest GPU makers, AMD and Nvidia, are seeing revenue growth driven by skyrocketing video card sales. Both companies have recently issued statements on this issue, however, their positions differ. Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun has high hopes for cryptocurrency mining and says “cryptocurrencies will last.” AMD, by contrast, is skeptical and does not rely on mining when drawing up a long-term strategy.

However, the release of the latest driver package indicates that the company is not going to lose this market, at least in the short term. AMD Says No Plans To Provide Further Support For Mining Drivers And Release Updates And Fixes.
